Engaging with the island’s terrain, wind, and shifting light in a site responsive design, Sigurd Larsen captures the essence of Cycladic living with Kythnos Cliff House – a project commissioned by Vipp Residences, an initiative by Danish design brand Vipp to create co-owned holiday homes. The project will balance architectural clarity and curated interiors with the soulful simplicity of the Aegean.

Perched 30 meters high on a secluded cliff on the western coast of Kythnos, the architect has envisioned a retreat climbing upwards along the rocky cliffside. One with the wild, rocky landscape, this 216 m2 residence overlooks the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. Situated in the quiet bay of Trivlaka, referencing the 3 bays shaping this stretch of coastline, the property will offer unmatched seclusion to its owners.

Sigurd Larsen is a frequent visitor to the island with abundant experience in property development through his emblematic ‘Piperi House’ – a project that caught the attention of Vipp Residences who subsequently commissioned the development of Kythnos Cliff House.

As a doorway into Vipp’s collection of furniture, kitchen, lighting, and accessories, the interior emits a Scandinavian sensibility merged with Mediterranean charm. Dosed with art pieces and local curiosities, the home takes on a character full of Aegean allure. Curated quality will linger in every corner from soft furniture textiles to the all-aluminium Vipp V3 kitchen granting an industrial edge to an organic space. With an interior adding luxury and comfort to island life, the frame is set for future owners to easily transition to the soothing rhythm of Kythnos.

Once completed, a private path leads you down to the seafront deck, where guests can take in the unspoiled views to the islands of Hydra and Peloponnese. A dive from the cliffs into the salty sea, unveils an ocean bed covered in white marble cliff stones giving the water its turquoise traits.
